WASHINGTON – Today, Sen. Tom Carper (D-Del.), ranking member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, released the following statement after the Senate voted to confirm the nomination of Denise Turner Roth to be Administrator of the General Services Administration (GSA):
“The General Services Administration has a mission that is near and dear to my heart – to help other agencies do more – and get better results – for less money. By helping other agencies with contracting, information technology solutions, and property management, GSA is a catalyst for both reducing expenses and improving performance across the federal government. When former Administrator Dan Tangherlini left the agency earlier this year, he left some big shoes to fill. Fortunately, though, Denise Turner Roth stepped up to the plate. During her service as Deputy Administrator and Acting Administrator, Ms. Roth has demonstrated her ability to take on a difficult and demanding job, and her commitment to lead GSA with the efficiency and effectiveness it deserves. I believe Ms. Roth will carry on with Dan Tangherlini’ s legacy of a pragmatic, forward-thinking approach to finding solutions to problems. I congratulate Ms. Roth on her confirmation, and I look forward to working with her in this new role.”
