WASHINGTON – Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., issued the following statement Tuesday on the confirmation of Matthew Olsen to be Director of the National Counter Terrorism Center:
“I offer my congratulations to Matthew Olsen on his confirmation as head of the National Counterterrorism Center – a key component of the nation’s anti-terror efforts. Recommended by the 9/11 Commission and created by legislation originating in our Committee, the NCTC has played an important role in identifying and tracking terrorists, analyzing the terrorist threat, and ensuring that intelligence agencies share information. I am confident that Mr. Olsen will continue to strengthen the NCTC’s work to defend the American people against terrorism at home and abroad.”
