LIEBERMAN APPLAUDS LEW NOMINATION

WASHINGTON—Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., Tuesday released the following statement on the nomination of Jack Lew to be Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).  The Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee oversees the OMB, including the nomination of its director.

“President Obama has chosen an excellent nominee in Jack Lew to be the next Director of the Office of Management and Budget.  Jack is a brilliant man, an effective public servant, and knows how to work with Congress—traits that will serve him well as he works to bring our unsustainable federal debt under control.  His previous term as OMB Director occurred in an era of budget surpluses and economic growth, and Jack is the right man to help lead us back to better fiscal times. The President has made a great choice at a critical time for our nation.”
