Johnson Discusses Committee’s Oversight of Presidential Transition, Unmaskings on Fox News

WASHINGTON — In an interview on “Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo,” U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, discussed the committee’s ongoing oversight of presidential transitions, the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation, and the Obama administration’s “unmasking” of individuals from the Trump campaign and transition team.

Excerpts of the interview are below and video can be found here (part one) and here (part two).

On transition issues

“The fact that both political parties respect the wishes of the American voters, and so we’ve throughout our history had a very peaceful and cooperative, and I’d even say well-wishing, transition of power from one administration to the next. What we saw was a total corruption of that – before, during and after this transition. It’s incredibly serious.”

“From what I’ve seen I really do believe there was an effort underway from the day after the election — it actually started before that, but really kicked into high gear the day after the election — to sabotage this administration. … So there’s an awful lot to be uncovered, there’s an awful lot the American people need to understand.”

On upcoming interviews

“We have a list of 35 people currently, it is very similar to what Lindsey Graham is going to be working on as well. … We’ll let Lindsey Graham focus on the FBI, the Department of Justice of the corruption of the FISA process. We’ll be listening very carefully to his hearings and probably calling in those witnesses for follow-up questioning.”
