Chairman Johnson Applauds DHS Initiative to Help Victims of Illegal Immigrant Crime

WASHINGTON – Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, applauded the Department of Homeland Security Wednesday upon its creation of the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement Office (VOICE).

Launched Wednesday by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the office will support victims of crimes committed by illegal immigrants and aid in pursuing available resources.

“Just last month our committee heard powerful testimony from Ms. Julie Nordman about the failures of our immigration system that led to her husband’s murder,” Johnson said. “The new VOICE office will support people like Julie and many others who have suffered similar tragedies. This office will help to provide necessary resources to victims of crimes who are often left in the dark.”

More information on the VOICE initiative can be found here.
