WASHINGTON — Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, had this to say following the release of the Department of State Office of Inspector General report criticizing Secretary Clinton’s email practices while at the State Department.
“The independent inspector general’s report found that Secretary Clinton did not comply with department policies implementing federal records laws, highlighting Secretary Clinton’s reckless disregard of procedures design to enhance national security,” said Johnson. “Worse, the evidence collected by the inspector general suggests that Secretary Clinton never sought approval for her personal email and that department experts warned the secretary about the potential cybersecurity risk. I appreciate the work of the Office of Inspector General to bring transparency to Secretary Clinton’s irresponsible and dangerous email practices.”
Johnson sent a letter to the State Department Office of Inspector General in March 2015, asking the inspector general to examine the security and records preservation implications of Secretary Clinton’s exclusive use of a personal email server while at the State Department.
