Subcommittee Emphasizes Cost-Effective Acquisition Strategies in Requesting a GAO Review of Navy’s NGEN Plans

Following the Government Accountability Office’s (GAO) determination in March 2011 that the Department of the Navy did not adequately demonstrate that the then-current acquisition for the Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN) was conducted in the most cost-effective manner, Senator McCaskill and Senator Collins wrote to GAO to request a follow-up evaluation of the Navy’s revised acquisition plans to ensure that the department’s approach is one that reflects a cost-effective emphasis.
