WASHINGTON – Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., issued the following statement Thursday after the Administration announced it is eliminating and refining burdensome and out-of-date regulations to help spark economic growth.
“The reforms announced today by the Administration to ease the regulatory burden on business are a welcome and essential step to reinvigorating the economy while maintaining proper protections for the health and welfare of the American people. I fully endorse the effort to comb through thousands of federal regulations to eliminate or refine those that impose undue burdens, are redundant, or simply no longer necessary. This must be an ongoing and sustained effort. And while smart regulations are obviously needed to establish the protections the public demands and deserves, I look forward to a clean sweep of those regulations that no longer serve their purpose.”
