WASHINGTON – Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., Wednesday issued the following statement in response to the Administration’s announcement that it will nominate Craig Fugate as Administrator for the Federal Emergency Management Agency:
“I am pleased the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will soon receive the nomination of Craig Fugate to lead the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which is a lynchpin in our homeland security. Mr. Fugate has risen through the ranks from fire fighter and paramedic to emergency management director in Florida, a state that has experienced numerous hurricanes during Director Fugate’s tenure. Mr. Fugate clearly is an experienced emergency manager, and I look forward to our nomination hearing and a conversation with him about his goals and priorities for FEMA.” |
