WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill, the top-ranking Democrat on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, met today with the nominee for Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security, Elaine C. Duke.
“Elaine Duke has a long history in Department of Homeland Security management, and it was a great opportunity to talk directly with her,” McCaskill said. “We discussed her plans for managing the agency and using taxpayer dollars in the most effective and efficient ways possible to fulfill its mission. I look forward to Duke’s confirmation hearing to continue the conversation about how we’ll protect our country.”
Prior to her nomination, Duke spent years in senior Department of Homeland Security management and procurement roles, serving in both the Barack Obama and George W. Bush Administrations.
McCaskill and Republican Chairman Ron Johnson of Wisconsin will hold a confirmation hearing for Duke on March 8.
