Dr. Paul Releases Statement on Senate Confirmation of Kristi Noem to be Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, released the following statement after the Senate voted, 59-34, to confirm the Honorable Kristi Noem as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS):

“I commend the Senate for its bipartisan confirmation of President Trump’s nominee for DHS Secretary, Kristi Noem. As the Governor of South Dakota and a former Member of Congress, Kristi has consistently demonstrated her ability to make tough decisions and prioritize American interests. Secretary Noem now has the critical responsibility to steer DHS away from a culture of secrecy and unjust targeting of law-abiding citizens exercising their constitutional rights. I’m proud to have supported her nomination and look forward to working with Secretary Noem on returning DHS to its core mission: protecting the American people.”
