WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) has been reelected by his colleagues as chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. Chairman Johnson welcomed new Ranking Member Gary Peters (D-Mich.) and Sens. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), Mitt Romney (R-Utah), Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), and Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) as new members of the committee for the 116th Congress.
“The Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee has a long tradition of working across the aisle to find areas of agreement to solve problems. Under my chairmanship we developed a mission statement for the committee: to enhance the economic and national security of America and promote more efficient, effective and accountable government,” Chairman Johnson said. “I’m honored to continue leading the committee’s important work on serious issues facing our nation – border security, cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection to name a few – in this nonpartisan spirit during the 116th Congress.”
