WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, released the following statement after the Department of Homeland Security released a report indicating Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) removed over 1,500 illegal immigrants with national security concerns. The report also raised concerns regarding individuals on the terror watch list who are entering the United States by exploiting our immigration system.
“This report provides a warning about the grave threats we face, and the challenges that the Department of Homeland Security and other agencies must overcome to prevent terrorist attacks. Congress needs to reform immigration enforcement law and strengthen border security to give federal agencies the resources and authorities needed to keep America safe.”
