SENATOR COLLINS EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES TO FAMILY, FRIENDS OF COAST GUARD LT. SEAN KRUEGER, WHO GREW UP IN WATERBORO

WASHINGTON – Senator Susan Collins issued the following statement regarding the death of Coast Guard Lieutenant Sean Krueger, who was killed in a Coast Guard aircraft accident yesterday:

"I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Coast Guard Lieutenant and Aircraft Commander Sean Krueger, who grew up in Waterboro and was killed yesterday while piloting a Coast Guard aircraft on its way from Astoria, Oregon, to Sitka, Alaska," said Senator Collins. "Lieutenant Krueger attended Massabesic High School and was well known in the Maine community. He was serving as a pilot at the Coast Guard Air Station in Sitka, Alaska. Sadly, he leaves behind a wife and three children. The crash also killed two other crewmen; a fourth crewman is in the hospital with serious injuries. This tragic incident reminds us that each moment of each day, the brave men and women of the Coast Guard put their lives on the line for the safety and security of our nation. We owe Lt. Krueger, his crew, and their families our deepest appreciation and prayers."
