WASHINGTON – The Chairman and Ranking Member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Monday released two letters as part of the Committee’s inquiry into waste, excessive spending, and possible fraud at the General Services Administration.
Chairman Joe Lieberman, ID-Conn., and Ranking Member Susan Collins, R-Maine, wrote to GSA’s inspector general and its acting administrator seeking information regarding the agency’s department-wide financial management, its control over its 10 regions, its spending on conferences, and its contracting policies.
The letters, which can be read here and here, come after GSA’s Inspector General discovered that thewestern region spent $800,000 on a conference in Las Vegas. Shortly thereafter the Committee launched an inquiry.
